What to expect in a sound healing or reiki session
One to One Sound healing
When you arrive, we will chat through the intake form over some tea and discover a little about what you would like to get from the session. You will then settle on the therapy couch and be guided through a short meditation before the sounds are brought in gently. A sound healing session is a very personal experience, and so we will work with intention and healing instruments to allow the body to relax and release in order to bring about inner transformation and restoration. The frequencies of the instruments can be effectively used both on and off the body and we will discuss your preference during the intake. The first session is around 90 mins, but please allow for two hours.
Group Sound Journey
Group sound journeys are a chance to sink into deep relaxation and discover an inner stillness and reflection. I will work predominantly off the body and use the deep restorative frequencies of sacred instruments to calm the mind and allow for total sound immersion. These sound journeys last between 60-75 minutes.
Reiki
Reiki is a very gentle and safe hands-on healing technique. It is a holistic system used for balancing, self-healing and harmonising the body, mind, emotions and spirit. After a chat and a look through the intake form, I will invite you to lie down on the therapy couch and I will use a combination of hands off and hands on placement to channel the life force energy that flows through every living thing to bring about deep relaxation and a profound sense of peace.
Please wear comfortable clothing and warm socks to your session. There are no known contraindications with Reiki when used on its own and not in conjunction with any other therapy. Reiki always works for the greatest and highest good and is very gentle, safe and non-invasive. You may want to exercise caution if you have recently had major surgery, have epilepsy, wear a pacemaker, a serious mental disorder or under medication for diabetes, blood pressure or thyroid problems. Please consult your doctor if in any doubt about these or any other medical conditions. .
Client aftercare information - sound healing
If you follow these guidelines, the sound healing process will have a deeper and longer lasting effect.
An initial program of three or four sessions is recommended for the healing process to be most effective. However, you may find that a longer or shorter course of treatments will work best for you. I can discuss this with you at the time of treatment. A single session can also be extremely effective at releasing and addressing deep issues.
If you feel ungrounded at the end of a sound healing session, try eating or drinking something. Please do not drive or operate heavy machinery after the treatment if you feel ungrounded.
Following the sound healing session, it’s best to take it easy, rest, relax, go for a walk and avoid stressful situations.
When you get home, if possible aim to have a bath or a shower as the water will allow the sounds to integrate deeper and last longer.
Please avoid red meat, alcohol, or any chemical toxins for the next 24 hours. Please drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated and allow any toxins released by the re-balancing effects of the sound healing to be flushed from the body.
There are no officially recognized side effects of sound healing.
Sometimes, complementary therapy can cause a healing reaction. During or after the sound healing session, you may experience worsening symptoms before they get better. In the unlikely event that a healing reaction does happen, you can contact me to discuss this matter. If you feel the situation needs closer attention, you should contact your doctor. If you need immediate medical care, you should not hesitate to contact a medical professional.
I will give you recommendations for self-care to be done in between the sound healing sessions and/or at the end of a course of treatments. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
